Patient Registry

What is WJPR?

Have you heard of the disease known as psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that affects an estimated 500,000 to 600,000 people in Japan. It is associated with a high prevalence of comorbid conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, and sometimes leads to arthritis.

In Japan, biologic, effective treatments for psoriasis, were introduced in 2010. Additionally, in 2017, apremilast, the first new oral medication in 25 years became available. While these advancements have significantly transformed psoriasis treatment, it is essential to collect and analyze data from many patients to confirm the long-term safety and sustained effectiveness of these new treatments.

To achieve this, dermatology institutions across the Kinki, Chugoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa regions-affiliated with the Western Japan Inflammatory Skin Disease Research Group-have collaborated to establish the largest psoriasis database (registry) in Japan.

This registry is called the Western Japan Psoriasis Registry (WJPR). Patient information provided to WJPR is kept confidential while contributing valuable data that benefits medical professionals, patients, and society.
